Asashoryu, who turns 28 this Saturday, pulled out of the latest tournament yesterday, making this his second consecutive tournament he left. According to Jiji Press, Asashoryu have a damaged ligament in his left elbow.

Mongolian grand champion Hakuhō Shō and Japanese sumo wrestler Gōeidō Gōtarōare are tied for the lead at the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament.

No word yet if Asashoryu will compete in the next upcoming tournament scheduled for November.
