According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gong Li is set to star in the Chinese remake of What Women Want with Andy Lau. The film’s director Chen Daming told the media why he chose the highly-acclaimed actress for the lead role.
“I wanted to bring more strength out in the woman character to reflect what’s happening in China. Chinese women are leading giant businesses today and winning most of our Olympic gold. Gong Li has the presence to convey this strength.”
The $5 million budget film began filming Tuesday in the central business district of Beijing.

Qi recently completed shooting Andrew Lau Wai-Keung’s upcoming film Fist of Fury: The Legend of Chen Zhen with Donnie Yen and Anthony Wong. Up next for the actress is another Andrew Lau flick, Beautiful Life. Shooting begins next month.

Donnie Yen will star in Andrew Lau’s upcoming 2010 martial arts pic Fist of Fury: The Legend of Chen Zhen. The film tells the story of the fictional character made famous by Bruce Lee in the 1972 movie Fist of Fury. Shu Qi and Anthony Wong co-star.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zhang Ziyi will star in and co-produce the upcoming film Snow Flower & The Secret Fan. Set in 19th century China, the film tells the story of the lifelong friendship of Lily and Snow Flower and their imprisonment by rigid cultural codes of conduct for women.

According to Variety, Andrew Lau will direct Revenge of The Green Dragons, a fact-based crime drama about a Chinese street gang in New York’s Chinatown. The crime plot intersects with the story of immigrants chasing the American dream.
