I know times are tough but this is NOT the way to solve money problems.

A medical student at NY’s SUNY Upstate Medical University paid his tuition by hood-winking hundreds of people out of thousands of $$$ for over a two year period.

How the scam worked: Kenneth Chou, 30 years-old, copied Kaplan lecture DVDs from his university’s library and illegally resold them online. (see pic above).

Chou admitted he sold more than $100,000 worth of DVDs until April 2008. Ultimately, Chou was charged and ordered by a federal judge to pay $400,000 to Kaplan in damages and legal fees. And, of course, he was expelled from school.

You ask, “What does this have to do with gossip and entertainment?” Well folks, Kenneth Chou is a former member of Taiwanese hip-hop group Machi. I guess Mr. Chou squandered or at the very least did a poor job saving his music royalties from his days in the music biz.

Ironically, a few years back Machi founder Jeff Huang was sued over the 2005 single Retribution. The rap song implied possible death for corrupt legislators passing laws to make it easier to pirate music in Taiwan. Hmm…I wonder if Machi will make a rap song about one of its former members pirating Kaplan lecture DVDs??

GACKT finally comes clean with his age at a press conference yesterday for his upcoming play gig, Nemuri. The singer/songwriter is 36-years-old (July 4, 1973). Gackt attended a press conference for the upcoming play production based on Nemuri Kyoshiro, a controversial character in Renzaburo Shibata’s Full Moon Swordsman series. The play is set to premiere in May 2010.

On Thursday Kyung Hee University announced Son Dam-bi has passed the college entrance exam for the school. The singer is set to matriculate in the postmodern music department next year.

Also, SNSD’s Seohyun and Yuri and Big Bang’s Seungri have all passed their university entrance exams for DongGuk University’s 2010 matriculation. Congrats to all!

Dingdong Dantes walked the runway at last night’s BENCH Fashion Show. The event was part of Philippine’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010. Other celebs participating in this year’s fashion week include Will Devaughn, Rafael Rosell, Phil Younghusband, Jon Avila, Xian Lim, AJ Dee and Robin Padilla.

Dingdong Dantes and his rumored girlfriend Marian Rivera were guest speakers at Laguna State Polytechnic University’s 10^th Integration Celebration on October 15th. The couple, who presented the first scholarship grant, caused quite a stir by kissing in front of the students.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Bollywood icon Aamir Khan and host Arnab Goswami met last week to discuss the topic of education and how the teaching profession is becoming the last choice for students coming out of college. Aamir was awesome in the interview.
