Vidhu Vinod Chopra is set to direct Nicolas Cage in his upcoming gangster flick Broken Horses. The film is based off of Chopra’s 1989 award-winning movie Parinda (aka The Bird). The Hindustan Times is reporting,
“Vidhu is currently in Los Angeles, working on for Broken Horses. Even in Mumbai, he was in touch with his Hollywood contacts for the cast and crew. Cage has been confirmed for one of the leading roles just a few days ago,” says our source.”
Mickey Rourke was reportedly approached to also star in the film; however, there’s no word as to whether he will officially join the cast. I’ll keep you posted.

Jet Li and Jackie Chan attended the inaugural opening of the 2010 Beijing SportAccord Combat Games celebration on Saturday. The sporting competition is billed as the biggest comprehensive international sports event to be held in the capital since the Summer Olympic Games in 2008.
Li, 47, is actively campaigning at the SportAccord Games for Chinese Taichiquan, or shadow boxing, to be officially included in future Olympic Games.
“It’s my dream to help Taiji push-hands become an official Olympic sport. I’ll spare no efforts to make that happen in 20 years,” said Li.
In the meantime, Jet Li’s latest Hollywood flick The Expendables has earned $82,010,000 in the U.S., $3,850,015 internationally; generating a total of $85,860,015 worldwide as of August 29th.
Btw, Stallone recently told the media the real reason behind Jean-Claude Van Damme’s refusal to star in The Expendables.
“I wanted to set Jean-Claude against Jet Li, but he didn’t want to lose to Jet. He didn’t think that was cool,” Stallone told The Sunday Times.
My thoughts: For Van Damme to think he could/should beat Jet Li in film (and possibly in real life) is…well…laughable at best.

The above Nikita poster is causing some folks to get their panties in a bunch. Ok, seriously the poster was deemed too racy to advertise in malls across the U.S. including locations in L.A., Chicago and New York.
Tbh, The CW has sexualized the hell out of Maggie Q on promo pictures to the point where it’s beginning to tip over into being an all-out Asian fetish marketing production. So I ask the question, “Does it really take this much exposed skin and tight leather to get Americans to watch a drama series with an Asian female in the lead role?” Something to think about folks…
At any rate, the show has received pretty good reviews including praise for Maggie’s acting and a solid storyline. Nikita premieres on September 9th @ 9:00 pm Eastern/8:00 pm Central.
