
Fusing the grooves of Soul/R&B with socially conscious lyricism, Dawen explores the American dream. As a singer-songwriter, Dawen hopes his music will further the dialogue on racism and social injustice in American society.
Influences range from Erykah Badu and Bob Marley, to Charles Mingus and Mozart.
A graduate of Northwestern University, Dawen was classically trained as a vocalist and has been singing and playing piano since he was six years old. Dawen also plays guitar and the mbira dzavadzimu.
A recent transplant from Chicago, Dawen now resides in Los Angeles.
